The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Dermatology.

The Department of Dermatology is one of the premier academic dermatology programs in the nation and the most highly specialized clinical dermatology practice in the region. The department consists of 31 Faculty members, 13 Residents and Fellows, and an endowment of $15M supporting 7 professorships and 2 lectureships. The department ranks highly in NIH, VA and total research funding with emphases on cancer and inflammatory diseases. It is home to one of only six NIH-funded Skin Disease Research Centers in the nation. Dermatology’s faculty and APPs practice in several clinics throughout the Madison area and work closely with UW primary care departments and other clinical practices to promote optimal patient care in the most appropriate setting. In addition to general dermatology, the Department offers subspecialty expertise in the following areas: complex medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, inpatient dermatology consultation, dermatopathology, cutaneous lymphomas, melanomas, Mohs surgery, aesthetic dermatology, nail diseases, psychocutaneous medicine, solid organ transplant dermatology, contact dermatitis, teledermatology, integrative dermatology, women’s dermatology, LGBTQ health disparities and Native American health disparities.

We seek a recognized leader with proven leadership and management skills as well as an outstanding academic background and strong clinical credentials.

The successful candidate will have a compelling vision for the future of Dermatology in a leading academic medical center. Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree(s), and board certification in dermatology. They should possess a substantial background and experience in administrative leadership, clinical care, teaching, and research, and a strong academic background that would qualify for appointment as a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
