The Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center invites applications for the position of Chief, Section of Nephrology and the Norman Levinsky, M.D., Professor of Medicine. The Nephrology program at Boston University School of Medicine has a longstanding history of research, education, and clinical innovation. The section is comprised of over 20 faculty members and over 20 clinical fellows, post-doctoral research fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, carrying out clinical care and research. The section is supported by a T32 NIH training grant in Nephrology, now in its 46th year, several NIH, foundation and industry grants, substantial home and in-center dialysis programs, and has been the source of several recent important translational discoveries.

 

The Chief will provide outstanding leadership to the clinical, teaching, and research programs within the Section of Nephrology. The Chief will lead and build clinical programs of excellence and establish high quality, evidence-based nephrology practices. In this role, the Chief will recruit top faculty; develop and enhance educational programs for medical students, residents and fellows; and expand patient care programs and resources. In addition, the Chief will establish collaborative research partnerships within the department, medical center, university, transplant and vascular surgical departments and external commercial and nonprofit organizations. The Chief will pursue innovation and excellence in each of the core missions of the section.

 

The successful candidate must be a board certified nephrologist, recognized as a committed and successful physician-investigator in the world of academic nephrology with demonstrated leadership experience. A dedication to providing high quality, comprehensive care to all, particularly mindful of the needs of vulnerable populations, is required.
