Craniofacial Orthodontist
Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Rush University Medical Center
Chicago

The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, is seeking a full time Craniofacial Orthodontist for its Craniofacial Center.

Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Orthodontics and eligible for dental and orthodontic licensure in Illinois.  Preference will be given to those who have completed/are completing a Craniofacial Orthodontic fellowship and have experience with special needs, pediatric, cleft and craniofacial patients.  Previous experience working within a multidisciplinary team is highly desirable.  The predominant criteria for appointment are: excellence in clinical care and patient satisfaction, a major commitment to research, teaching and institutional service.  Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above.

This position provides a unique opportunity to further gain exposure in the field with an experienced Orthodontist, prior to taking over the Orthodontic practice at the Rush Craniofacial Center.  The Center was established in 1999 and consists of a multidisciplinary team of professionals caring for children, adolescents and adults with congenital and acquired craniofacial anomalies.  The newly-renovated center has cutting edge technology for patient care including CBCT scanner and 3D photography. The team is approved by the Commission of Accreditation of Teams from the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA).  All core team members are members of ACPA.  The Center has collected long-term clinical data from treated patients that are available for clinical studies and research.  The extremely close collaboration between the Orthodontist and craniofacial surgeons has led to the development of new surgical/orthodontic treatment approaches for patients with craniofacial conditions.

Rush University Medical Center is an academic medical center that encompasses a 669-bed hospital serving adults and children. In January 2012, Rush opened a new 376-bed hospital building, known as the Tower, which is part of the Medical Center’s major renovation of its campus. Rush University is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nation’s top-ranked nursing colleges, as well as graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research. The Medical Center also offers more than 70 highly selective residency and fellowship programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.

Rush is consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Rush is ranked in 8 of 16 categories in U.S. News & World Report's 2016-2017 "America's Best Hospital's" issue, and is one of the two top-ranked hospitals in Illinois overall. Rush was one of four hospitals in the country that the American Hospital Association honored for equity of care in June of 2017. Rush was the first hospital in Illinois serving adults and children to receive Magnet status – the highest honor in nursing – and the first in Illinois to earn a fourth four-year designation. Rush has been ranked among the country's top 100 hospitals — and 15 major teaching hospitals — four times by Truven Health Analytics, a leading provider of health care data and analytics. The Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization that advocates for equality for people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer/questioning named Rush University Medical Center a leader in LGBT Health Equality for the ninth consecutive year.
