McGregor Memorial EMS in Durham, NH is seeking qualified applicants for the position of executive director. The successful candidate will administer a non-profit, combination paid/volunteer organization (75 on-call volunteer EMTs & Paramedics; 15 per diem paramedics, and 4 full-time staff) that provides 9-1-1 emergency medical services to the communities of Durham, Lee, Madbury and the University of New Hampshire (combined population 35,335; 57.2 sq. mi.; 2,200 EMS responses in 2017).  The executive director also oversees the McGregor Institute of EMS which provides education to the public and healthcare providers in pre-hospital emergency medicine throughout northern New England.  The Institute provides high-quality EMT and Advanced EMT courses and continuing education to approximately 150 students annually.  Its “CPR Safe” program serves schools throughout New Hampshire and certifies over 4,000 people each year in first aid and CPR.  
Appointed by/reports to a six-member board of directors. Duties include, but are not limited to, strategic planning, board and community relations, fundraising, financial and human resources oversight, marketing, volunteer recruitment/retention, regulatory compliance and coordination/outreach with local governments, EMS and fire agencies, hospitals, regional councils, NH Bureau of EMS, and other public safety organizations and entities. Strong and creative leadership and managerial skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communications skills required. A proven, successful record of experience in progressively responsible supervisory, administrative and leadership assignments is required.  The successful candidate shall possess a combination of education and experience related to nonprofit/public administration, public safety, and managing/growing an educational institution.


A bachelor’s degree in EMS, emergency management, public administration/policy, business administration or related field is required; 10 yrs. of EMS and/or non-profit experience, including 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience. National Registry EMT certification or greater is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience, including non-profit leadership/management, will be considered.   
Salary range is $70,000 - $95,000. Salary commensurate with qualifications
