Infectious Disease Junior Faculty

Position Summary
Seeking an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist who will maintain a vigorous program of externally funded research, teach graduate courses, advise masters and doctoral students, provide service to the community and contribute to the development of the department and the college.

Required Qualifications
Required qualifications include: Earned Ph.D. in Epidemiology or Ph.D. in Epidemiology in conjunction with another clinical degree (e.g., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., etc.) at time of application. Candidates should have or demonstrate the potential for 1) a track record of external research funding and scholarship; 2) substantive expertise in infectious disease epidemiology; 3) a commitment to teaching, advising graduate students, mentoring post-doctoral fellows, and service to the Department of Epidemiology.

Supplemental Qualifications (if any)
Experience or willingness 1) to work as part of a multidisciplinary research team; 2) to work with communities; 3) translating research into practice.

Requisition Justification
The Department of Epidemiology is part of the CEPH-accredited College of Public Health and has strong collaborative relationships with the UNMC College of Medicine, UNMC Global Center for Health Security, (https://www.unmc.edu/publicrelations/media/press-kits/national-center-for-health-security-and-biopreparedness.html), the Center for Biosecurity Biopreparedness and Emerging Infectious Diseases (https://www.unmc.edu/publichealth/centers/cbbeid/staff/index.html) and UNMC iExcel project (https://unmc.edu/iexcel/). The Department's academic programs include an MPH and a PhD in epidemiology. The Department has need for an individual with a record of successful scholarship and research focus on infectious disease epidemiology. The Department also needs a candidate who can teach courses, advise students, provide community service and contribute to the continued development of the department and college.

The Department of Epidemiology within the College of Public Health (CoPH) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center invites applications for one junior faculty-level position in Infectious Disease Epidemiology with rank dependent upon qualifications.

The CoPH is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and works closely with the UNMC College of Medicine, UNMC Global Center for Health Security (https://www.unmc.edu/publicrelations/media/press-kits/national-center-for-health-security-and-biopreparedness.html), the Center for Biosecurity Biopreparedness and Emerging Infectious Diseases (https://www.unmc.edu/publichealth/centers/cbbeid/staff/index.html) and UNMC iExcel project (https://unmc.edu/iexcel/). Our mission is to promote optimal health and well-being through robust education, research, and service in collaboration with communities in Nebraska, across the country, and around the world. The Department of Epidemiology offers a Certificate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, and M.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees in Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology.
