MSP Aviation

The Maryland State Police Aviation Command is actively recruiting experienced paramedics to become part of our team.

Our next state trooper academy class is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2018. If you apply now, you will be considered for this class.

You will fly on one of our ten AW-139 helicopters that were delivered in 2013. You will be part of a four-person crew that includes two instrument certified pilots and two paramedics.

We are seeking Nationally Registered Paramedics with pre-hospital advanced life support experience.

To become a flight paramedic for the Maryland State Police, you must first become a Maryland State Trooper. To become a Maryland State Trooper you must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in any state and have a satisfactory driving record
  • Possess visual acuity correctable to 20/20, binocularly
  • Be at least 20 years of age but not older than 59
  • Be in excellent physical condition
  • Have a good reputation and sound moral character
  • Not have any current court orders relating to domestic violence
  • Be truthful in every stage of the application process
  • Comply with our tattoo policy

Maryland regulations require that all applicants for this position must have abstained from the use of controlled dangerous substances for at least three years prior to application.

You will be required to pass an extensive background check that includes a polygraph examination.
