Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tuskegee University invites applications for the position of Department Head for Food and Nutritional Sciences at the Associate Professor or Professor Level.
  • Maintain the academic and research programs currently in place while also providing leadership essential to enhance student performance, interdisciplinary Research-Extension and other departmental goals.
  • Visionary leadership abilities, management and accreditation experience, and appreciation for the diverse disciplines within the department.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in nutrition and/or food science with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience
  • Record of successful leadership achievements , ability to direct department unit and interact with interdisciplinary teams within the College
  • Record of excellence in teaching, research and/or extension
  • Strong record of grantsmanship through various funding sources
  • Commitment to advancing multiple aspects of the teaching programs: accreditation, curriculum development and career development of students
  • Should have recent experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students in the field of nutrition and dietetics; leadership in service including active participation in a professional organization.
  • The ability to support continued accreditation of departmental programs is critical.
  • Knowledge of DPD/ACEND and IFT certification requirements

Salary

Commensurate with education, training and experience; Salary is contingent upon outside funding.
