Georgia could emerge as a hot spot for job seekers in the medical industry. An economic impact study conducted by Georgia State University's William Custer finds that the state accepting a Medicaid expansion offer from the federal government could create up to 70,000 jobs.
Slightly more than half of those jobs would be added by health care providers, Custer's estimates show. According to the study, private hospitals might add up to 15,154 jobs, for the bulk of the 38,124 jobs added across the industry. Other physicians, home health care specialists, and diagnostics experts would also be required.
