This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until 06/08/2020. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be approximately 7 days after the opening of this announcement with subsequent referral lists being generated throughout the open period as vacancies are identified. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals, as received or as additional vacancies occur, on an as needed basis until positions are filled. Salary may be adjusted to include a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) of 2.86% for Anchorage, Alaska, 10.28% for Honolulu, Hawaii, and 3.13% for Puerto Rico. CDC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

JOB SUMMARY:
This Direct Hire recruitment is to fill positions based on a critical hiring need resulting from the outbreak and spread of the 'Coronavirus Disease 2019' (COVID-19), which has caused a public health emergency. As such, all applicants who meet the OPM Biologist Series requirements and the minimum specialized experience qualifications stated in this announcement will be referred to hiring managers for further consideration.

'As a Biologist, you will: Implement scientific policies and procedures on biological science practices and principles. Develop strategies to meet short and long-range goals for the applicable program and assures that strategies reflect most promising directions in research, preventive, and clinical approaches as it relates to the scientific area. Design, oversee, implement, and conduct biological scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve problems. Analyze study or project implementation procedures for improvement. Present findings and deliver briefings, explain and justify recommendations and negotiate solutions.' ]

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants must have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. MINIMUM QUALS: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, to include experience in designing, overseeing, implementing, and conducting biological scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve problems.
