We are currently seeking a self-motivated, results-driven Nursing Business Unit Leader for our fast-growing Healthcare business located in our St. Louis headquarters.  The Colibri Healthcare business serves multiple distinct professions including Nursing, Dental, Social Work, and Physical Therapy.  


Position Overview 

This leadership role will direct and manage the strategy and operations of the Colibri Nursing business to optimize business results. The Nursing Business Unit Leader will develop, articulate, and execute effective business strategies and programs; monitor and motivate team; manage daily operations; implement effective programs to ensure the team meets targeted goals and objectives; identify new business opportunities; and manage financial performance of the business through ownership of the business P&L.  This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions that will rapidly grow our business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B) sectors. 


The successful candidate for this role should demonstrate proven success in driving business results through strategic initiatives, excellent planning and communication skills, superior knowledge of business functions, exceptional budgeting and finance skills, and strong leadership qualities. The Nursing Business Unit Leader will be expected to account for all business activities, support team development, drive efficiency, improve revenue and margin, and meet overall growth objectives.


Job Responsibilities and Duties


Vision and Strategic Leadership

  • Define, articulate and champion the Nursing business vision and strategy to team, peers, stakeholders, and executives.

  • Communicate a clear vision to senior executives that is understandable and generates excitement.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of consumer behaviors and needs, the competitive landscape, and the healthcare sector to help shape strategic decisions, plans, and priorities.

  • Work closely with Healthcare product team to ensure we are building products that deliver on our strategy and meet the needs of the customer. 

  • Act as advocate for the customer by delivering best in class products and experience.

  • Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by establishing and maintaining a strong network of external relationships with subject matter experts and influencers in the Healthcare market.

  • Working with acquisition team, identify acquisition targets to strengthen business unit performance

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal partners including business unit leadership, operations, finance and accounting, sales and marketing, engineering and executive teams. 

Business and Financial Performance

  • Accomplish business unit objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; and making mid-course corrections.

  • Demonstrate evidence-based decision-making leveraging customer data, financial performance data, and business intelligence. 

  • Evaluate and decide upon key investments in product development, infrastructure, and talent.

  • Monitor and communicate financial performance against goals; identify whats working and whats not and drive improvement opportunities. 

  • Accountable for revenue and EBITDA goals for the business.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day operations by developing programs that pursue targeted goals and objectives, establishing performance goals and driving accountability to ensure on-time completion.

  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement. 

  • Manage resources to ensure they are focused on the biggest opportunities. 

  • Work with marketing to identify market segments and plan go-to-market strategies. 

  • Ensure the overall delivery and quality of the business unit offerings to customers.

Team Management

  • Provide direct management of key functional managers in the business unit.

  • Communicate a clear vision to team so individuals understand their key priorities and how they contribute to the overall success of the business unit. 

  • Develop key performance goals for direct reports; review on a regular basis and provide necessary coaching to improve performance. 

  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas

  • Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing employees and develop star performers.

Position Requirements


Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree required; masters degree a plus

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in business management spanning B2C and B2B markets

  • Experience managing a P&L, including forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking

  • Proven ability to execute against strategic objectives and plans

  • Previous experience in Healthcare sector

  • Previous experience in online education sector a plus
