CHIEF, DIVISION OF JOINT RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

University of Miami Health System

The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Chief, Joint Reconstructive Surgery.

UHealth, the University of Miami's healthcare delivery system, is the only comprehensive academic health system in South Florida, and includes three hospitals, more than 30 outpatient facilities in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Collier counties, with more than 1,200 physician and scientist faculty of the Miller School of Medicine.

This is a time of great change and opportunity for UHealth. To position themselves for sustained growth, UHealth has sought to strengthen their operating performance, improve its facilities, establish geographic reach through satellite medical facilities/hospitals and explore novel business models to enhance their partnership. A key priority of UHealth is the establishment of a premier joint replacement and reconstruction program with the recruitment of a new Chief, Joint Reconstructive Surgery.

The next Chief, Joint Reconstructive Surgery will join UHealth at a remarkable time; the academic medical center is actively undergoing transformation as it prepares for a new environment for health care and higher education. The Chief will be a critical asset in contributing to the establishment and continued growth of clinical programs in orthopaedic surgery, specifically joint replacement and reconstruction. The Chief will develop a business plan that establishes the joint replacement and reconstruction division as a Center of Excellence and disrupts the market competitively.

The opportunity to lead the Joint Surgery division is prestigious and particularly well suited to an academic surgeon ambitious to grow the division to a premier clinical and academic center of excellence. The Chief, Joint Reconstructive Surgery is expected to lead significant growth in the division, including developing new clinical, educational and research programs.

The Chief, Joint Reconstructive Surgery will be a nationally recognized leader in joint replacement surgery practice, science and education. The ideal physician will have a strong training pedigree, a track record of clinical excellence, possess excellent communications skills, and be committed to providing an exceptional patient experience. S/he will bring a collaborative and entrepreneurial leadership style coupled with a demonstrated ability to create and build a top-ranked program in one of the most vibrant academic institutions in the nation.
