£30,605 - £48,123 (dependent upon experience)

4 year fixed term contract

Ref: MI/18/62

About the role:

Dr Esther Baena is offering an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to undertake a 4-year MCRC-funded research project that is expected to lead to peer-reviewed publications and the award of a PhD.

We are looking for a highly-motivated Clinical Fellow to join Dr Baena’s Prostate Oncobiology group. The work of Dr Baena’s group is focused on dissecting the role of prostate progenitor subpopulations on metastatic prostate cancer initiation to identify novel therapeutic targets.

This project aims to study individual cells within tumours and their metastatic potential in prostate cancer patients in response to treatment using single-cell RNA sequencing and preclinical models. In collaboration with Profs Lacaud and Marais and the clinical supervision of Prof Bristow, this research project outlines an effort to further the understanding of castration-resistant cancer initiation to develop novel biomarkers and therapies.

About you:

You should have an MBChB (or equivalent) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (or equivalent). You should be independent, highly motivated and interested in undertaking a demanding translational research project in a fast paced and exciting field. You will also have full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with licence to practise medicine in the UK.
