The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Health Professions Department of Health Services Administration announces an opening for a full-time, open-rank, open-tenure, faculty position for our graduate programs in Healthcare Quality and Safety (HQS). These programs are offered through a partnership with UAB Health System, one of the largest academic medical centers in the country

We seek applications from innovative, motivated, and engaged individuals who are committed to growing our research and scholarship in healthcare quality and safety and participating in activities related to patient safety and quality, as well as healthcare management and leadership. This position will contribute to teaching in the quality and safety programs, but may also contribute in other areas of the Department. The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas: quality improvement, patient safety and human factors, process improvement, health care delivery science, implementation science, or other related fields. The ideal candidate will have earned a terminal degree in a relevant discipline and have developed a research portfolio. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience

Our HQS programs, established five years ago, include the number-one conferred graduate certificate at UAB and are located in the Department of Health Services Administration, along with the following education programs: two doctoral programs; the #2-ranked CAHME-accredited program in Health Administration; a CAHIIM-accredited Masters in Health Informatics program; a new Masters in Healthcare Simulation program; and an AUPHA-certified undergraduate program in Health Care Management

The selected applicant will join a diverse and vibrant academic community. With over 35 full-time faculty members, 4,000+ alumni, and an enrollment of just under 800 students, the Department has a solid fiscal foundation and an engaged community of alumni and other practitioners. Department faculty engage in multidisciplinary research programs with faculty from across the campus. UAB is a Doctoral/Research University-Extensive institution with an international reputation in health care education and biomedical research. The university has a long-standing reputation for collaboration across its 20 University-Wide Interdisciplinary Research Centers.
