Children's National Medical Center is actively recruiting for several faculty positions. We have a new department chair, Dr. Adelaide Robb, and are actively looking for academic child psychiatrists interested in a variety of newly created positions described in this letter. ChildrensNational.org

Specific Openings:

1. We are seeking two individuals to join our inpatient emergency team. These individuals would be hospitalists who spend 9 months a year split between weekday coverage of the emergency department and potentially a CPEP unit and the inpatient units for children and adolescents. In the three months off service the faculty member would teach, write scholarly manuscripts, conduct international work or see outpatients. We realize that these services are high acuity and need an individual who enjoys working in the acute care setting.

2. We have an opening for an individual with interest in or expertise in treating youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders who would join our large multidisciplinary team that assesses and treats youth across the spectrum. We have a senior child psychiatrist on this team and the demand is large for a second child psychiatrist to join this program.

3. Our third area of opportunity is in outpatient care where we are looking to expand our treatment team in the District or at our Virginia and Maryland satellite clinics. This person would be able to join the consult liaison team one to two days a week if that interest exists. If the individual has an area of focus in outpatient care, we have established teams in anxiety disorders and trauma, affective disorders, eating disorders and obesity, gender and sexuality development, infant psychiatry and disruptive disorders, and second opinion clinics. All those teams would love to have another faculty member join them. We would also welcome people with interest in starting a psychosis clinic for youth with schizophrenia spectrum disorders.

Specific Requirements and Preferences:

Medical degree from an accredited medical school.

Board certified in general psychiatry. Board certification or eligible in relevant child and adolescent psychiatry.

Salary and Benefits:

Salaries will be commensurate with experience and already match those at the other local academic child and adolescent psychiatry program. Benefits beyond the loan repayment and J1 visa options include 401K with matching funds, relocation package and signing bonus. AACAP dues, licenses, and malpractice are paid by the department. In addition, faculty members have a professional fund to allow attendance at meetings, training courses, and expand learning opportunities. We also have a faculty practice plan that supplements the standard salary based on a productivity model.

Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children’s National Medical Center and eligible for academic appointment at instructor or above at the George Washington University School of Medicine.

Children’s National is located in a nationally underserved location and is therefore eligible for both local and federal loan repayment programs for medical school debts and for J1 visas. In addition, we have faculty members more interested in research who apply for and receive NIH sponsored loan repayment grants for research centered on children and adolescents as part of their loan repayment program. Several of our DC clinics are located in underserved communities, and we welcome applicants who might benefit from any of these programs.
