JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the position is to plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of health communication and marketing activities designed to impact positive health outcomes. The position enhances program effectiveness by applying relevant social marketing practices and health communication theories.

DUTIES:

'As a Health Communications Specialist, you will: Develop and implement communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the general public and other audiences. Use audience segmentation analysis and formative research to select appropriate communication channels and messages. Participate in the writing of contracts, cooperative agreements, and/or grants and independent government cost estimates. Provide consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation to internal and external groups. Develop, test, and disseminate science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in a variety of formats. Develop and present printed, electronic, and audiovisual materials for technical and lay audiences, scientific journals, and Internet and other mass-media outlets. Conduct audience research, collect feedback from consumers, monitor communication channel use, monitor audience demand for materials and publications, Maintain internal and external partnerships, to plan implement and evaluate national communications and marketing campaigns and activities.' ]

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications GS-11: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience applying social media marketing practices, health education models, and/or mass communication theories to health programs.
. OR A Ph.D. or equivalent degree; OR 3 (three) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related. OR A combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
