Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Medical Education Director (MED) is developing and providing high quality medical education to the hospital staff, and supervising the junior medical staff. The MED will also be an integral member of the LFHC Executive Team. That team will be led by the LFHC Executive Director, and will coordinate the strategic planning and the delivery of high quality patient care, education, and community outreach in accordance with the principles and values of LFHC and FWAB.

In order to achieve this successfully the position requires a minimum two-year commitment.

 

Salary and Benefits:
Housing allowance; travel allowance (R/T to home country once a year); and salary competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Luang Prabang is an amazing and lovely place to live and work.

Requirements

Essential:

  1. A Medical Degree from an internationally recognized university
  2. Registration to practice clinical medicine in the applicant’s home country
  3. Recent clinical experience in acute pediatric medicine
  4. Commitment to providing compassionate and nurturing care to patients
  5. Demonstrated communication, leadership and organizational skills

 

Highly desirable:

  1. A higher qualification in one or more of pediatrics, neonatology, emergency medicine, tropical medicine or public health.  
  2. Experience in delivering education and training in a health care setting
  3. Experience working in a developing country

Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is operated by a New York based non-profit organization Friends Without A Border, that is dedicated to providing high-quality and compassionate healthcare to the children in remote areas of Southeast Asia.


The hospital operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Luang Prabang Provincial Health Department, and opened in early 2015 on the same campus as the Luang Prabang Provincial Hospital.
