The Cardiac and Vascular Institute (TCAVI) provides cardiovascular healthcare services to the patients of North Central Florida.  We achieve our mission through the talents and dedication our employees bring to their jobs each and every dayWe are proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work.   TCAVI is seeking an RCIS in our outpatient Cath Lab.   No after hours calls, nights or weekends.   This is a regular full-time position with benefits. 



 


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The RCIS / CVT follows established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines; and delivers care to patients pre-, intra-, and post procedure.  The RCIS / CVT documents patient assessments and flow of procedures, identifies and reports situations requiring intervention, communicates goals and plan of care, assures patient rights. 



 


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Age appropriate assessment of patients pre, during, and post procedures;

  2. IV insertion and maintenance;

  3. Phlebotomy

  4. EKG performance and interpretation;

  5. Perform CLIA waived tests and controls for each;

  6. Verifies/documents accurate list of patients current medications and allergies;

  7. Assists in all aspects of all procedures: recording, scrubbing, circulating, equipment operation;

  8. Operation of imaging equipment, recording and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, cine capture and archiving equipment, image review stations;

  9. Check, test, and maintain imaging equipment in Invasive Services area;

  10. Knowledge of and practices concept of ALARA;

  11. Proficient in vascular access site sheath removal and assessment;

  12. Administration of medications, including conscious sedation;

  13. Appropriately follows policies and protocols for conscious sedation;

  14. Ordering and stocking;

  15. Education/Precepting of new hires;

  16. Critical thinking skills uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;

  17. Problem sensitivity has the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong;

  18. Problem solving skills;

  19. Participation in department CQI program;

  20. Adherence to OSHA standards;



           


EDUCATION:          Graduation from an accredited RCIS or  CVT program is preferred.  


 


EXPERIENCE:        Minimum one year previous cardiac and peripheral experience required.


           


REQUIREMENTS: RCIS or CVT certification highly preferred.  Current and ongoing BLS and ACLS certification.


 


ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Varied settings including exam rooms, office, laboratory and sometimes works in close quarters. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to radiology setting


 


PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Must be able to wear required lead apron for extended periods of time.  Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Lifts and carries items weighting up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to use varied office equipment including phone, writing instruments, PC, fax and medical equipment including stethoscope, EKG machine, scales, blood pressure cuff.
